Support Music Education

With your support, we are raising $10,000 to provide musical instruments and music lessons to low-income individuals, community intiatives and schools in Montreal.

Our Mission

Studio Drum MTL's Music Education Fund is a community campaign dedicated to eliminating financial barriers to music education. We believe that anyone passionate about music, whether a young child, teenager, adult, or even an entire family, should have the opportunity to learn and grow through music.

Our fund will be used to provide free instruments and subsidise music lessons for people who cannot afford them. We also support schools and youth centres that lack the resources to offer musical activities. By providing access to music, we hope to help individuals grow and contribute to strengthening our community. No matter your age or background, everyone deserves to have a rhythm of their own.

How It Works

When you purchase drum or guitar lessons as part of this project, 100% of your purchase goes directly to the Music Education Fund. If you make a donation without purchasing lessons, 100% of the amount goes directly to the Fund.

Your contribution helps to:
1) Provide musical instruments to low-income individuals and local schools.
2) Subsidise music lessons for children, teenagers and adults who would otherwise be unable to afford them.
3) Build a community around music, confidence and the joy of learning.

Simple Pricing

We offer three easy ways to participate in the Music Education Fund. Whether you want to take lessons, offer them to someone else, or simply make a donation, each option directly contributes to making music accessible to families and schools in Montreal.

Where your donation goes

Transparency and impact are at the heart of our Music Education Fund. Here is exactly how your contributions will be used:

Musical instruments

We will purchase drums, practice pads, drumsticks, and other instruments for participants who do not have access to their own equipment. We will also donate instruments to partner schools and youth centres that do not have the budget for musical equipment.

Subsidised courses

Part of the fund will be used to cover the cost of music lessons for students of all ages from low-income households. This includes children whose parents are on a tight budget, teenagers who dream of learning but whose families cannot afford the expense, and adults who are passionate about drumming but cannot afford it. We offer these individuals weekly or biweekly private lessons with professional teachers, free of charge or at a greatly reduced rate (depending on each person's situation). By subsidising the lessons, we ensure that no one is turned away because they cannot afford to pay.

Support for schools and youth programs

Part of the fund is used to support schools, extracurricular programs, and youth organisations in Montreal that want to offer music lessons or percussion workshops but lack the resources to do so. This may take the form of donated instruments, teaching materials, or funding for a series of workshops in a community centre. Your donations therefore have a multiplier effect: a single donated drum kit can be used by an entire class, and a series of workshops can reach dozens of young people. Our priority is to support communities where arts funding is low and needs are high.

Transparency and accountability

Transparency and Accountability
Studio Drum MTL is committed to full transparency regarding how the Music Education Fund operates and how funds are used.

Here is how we ensure responsible management:
Non-Profit Spirit
Studio Drum MTL is a for-profit music school, but the Music Education Fund initiative is entirely voluntary and generates no profit. Every dollar raised is dedicated exclusively to expanding access to music education. No one is seeking personal financial gain from your contributions. This is a project driven by heart and community commitment.

Support for our Outreach Teams
We employ a small team to help spread awareness of the project. To respect their time and effort, our door-to-door representatives are paid $20 per hour, plus a 20% commission on lesson packages they sell. We aim to compensate them fairly while keeping rates reasonable. The commission simply encourages representatives to meet as many people as possible, while ensuring that the vast majority of funds remain dedicated to the mission.

Use of Funds
Donations are used exclusively to support music education for individuals who would otherwise not have access. In practical terms, this includes purchasing drum kits, cymbals, drumsticks, practice pads, and other equipment to lend or donate. The fund also covers the fees of teachers who provide the lessons.

Who Benefits
The Music Education Fund directly supports members of the Montreal community. Some beneficiaries are students of Studio Drum MTL — for example, a motivated student whose family is going through financial hardship may receive a scholarship or tuition reduction to continue lessons.Other beneficiaries include public schools and youth centers. We collaborate with school music programs and community organizations to identify communities in need — by providing instruments, organizing free drumming workshops, or offering lesson scholarships to young people who otherwise would not have access. In all cases, 100% of the fund’s resources are used to support future musicians.

No Profit for Owners
The owners and management of Studio Drum MTL receive no profit from donations. No funds are taken as personal income. Aside from the necessary costs mentioned above (teacher compensation and minimal outreach/administrative expenses), all money is reinvested directly into the program to advance the mission. This initiative is driven by passion and community commitment — not profit.

Tax Receipts
Studio Drum MTL is not a registered charity and therefore cannot issue official tax receipts. We want to be transparent about this. Contributions to the Music Education Fund are considered community donations and are not tax-deductible.We deeply appreciate every contribution, even though it does not qualify for tax credits.

Transparency Reports
Your trust is important to us. Donors may choose to receive updates or transparency reports explaining how funds are being used.

We may share details such as:
1) The number of students who received lessons through the fund
2) Stories or testimonials from beneficiaries
3) A breakdown of expenditures (instruments purchased, number of lesson hours funded, etc.)

Our goal is to clearly demonstrate the real impact of your support.

If you ever have questions, we are always available to answer them. Transparency is a core part of our commitment.
